I've seen peoples pictures of their pours in what are you drinking now.....to me it looks like they must pour their drinks in a brand new glass every time!

All my glass have a white kinda film, no matter how much scrubing i give them with a soapy dish cloth? should i like leave them soaking at night with something like 1/2 tsp pbw?

i recently found out, pbw doesn't stain glass like i thought, only when too much is used i guess?

Do or have you run them through a dishwasher?
If so, the Sodium Silicate in automatic dishwasher detergent etches glass giving it a look like water deposits all over.
Once done you can't really undo it.

This. Throw those glasses away.

A few years ago, I had a set of glasses get this foggy appearance. I thought it was some sort of minerals on my glasses. I tried removing with EVERYTHING, both acidic and basic. Hyrochloric Acid, starsan, sodium hydroxide (lye), everything. Not even a bit of improvement.

Get new glasses and hand wash em every time. Like jtratcliff and PCABrewing both mentioned, likely your dishwasher doing you dirty.
You could run them through a dishwasher on Sanitize cycle with no detergent or rinse aid.
My glasses never have junk stuck on them and steam will get them plenty clean.

this glass is from 9-2013....and it has been through the dish washer a few times..

thinking, i'm on the toss it side...but i'll miss it, lots of fond memories!

I have some glasses that received "custom frosting" from years of dishwasher use. Tried soaking a couple in Starsan, no change. But those are the everyday water glasses we use, so don't care.

However, I never put beer or whisky glasses in the dishwasher for that reason and to avoid any detergent film that might break the head. I wash by hand.

anybody got anything 'cooler' looking then this? i like having a handle. that way the beer stays cold longer....

(kinda plain, pretty much exactly what i have now...i saw someone that posted a glass with a handle, and if memory serves, it was shaped like a short stout pilsner glass with a handle...and it had a name, can't remember though.....

I can see the advantage in a handled mug. Gut I really like these.

but if i ever drink a glass of water i want to look good posting a pic of it in the "what are you drinking now" thread! ;) lol :mug:
Somewhere I have a nice pic of one of my work buddies holding a mug that must have been 1.5 - 2l. My wife took it while we were all sitting at a beer garden on the square in Bruges.
The mug hid his face completely, and he didn't have a small head :)
Damn that was some good beer that weekend!

My dishwasher leaves glasses cloudy. I"ve tried more detergent, less detergent, doesn't matter. It's not permanent, though, as I wash them by hand now and they're crystal clear.

Well hazy beer is a big thing.....
Who knows, maybe hazy beer glasses will be the next big thing.
#trendsetter

they have them, they're called 'frosted' though! :mug:

hmmm, well i hauled my dishwasher to the dump because all it ever did was bake grime onto dishes and never cleaned them anyway.. may all my glasses stay clean from now on! :mug:

Every beer's a hazy if you have the right glassware.

Also need green glasses so we don't have to buy green beer on St. Patrick's.

but would either, be fruity, dank...or, i was going to say skunky...but i'm wondering if a good irish stout in a green glass would be purple?

Hard water will do that as will a incomplete rinse.
But the etching I am talking about won't wipe off.

Finish Hard Water Booster Powder is what we use here in Florida. Leaves glasses sparkling. Run the tap so the water is hot before you start the dishwasher. Use the high temperature option and the heated dry. Hope this helps.

All of my beer/wine/liquor glasses get hand washed with Liquinox, a lab grade detergent. Stuff is pricey, but a little goes a long way and the mix in my cleaning bucket lasts a long time. Be careful handling the wet glasses, as they become super slippery.
