Gingerbeer with Brewers yeast

Hi There,
Has anyone ever made gingerbeer with Brewers yeast? I was told it will make a real dry ginger. With mild alcohol.

yup did it about a month ago. it wasn't very agreeable. How much ginger are you using?

I am starting with about 3 tablespoons and letting that sit with some sugar and water. Then pour off half the water and feed it for 10 days 1 tsp of ginger and 1 tsp of sugar. The resulting liqueur I pour into about 25 liters of sugar water and bottle.
