getting back into it :) temperature gauge

hi all,

I picked up the brew keg for $20.00. I order the temp kit on ebay ($50.00). The question I have is where to place the gauge @ on the brew keg.

I think, generally speaking, you want to be measuring the temperature near the middle of your liquid. That should give you your average temperature throughout the liquid.

Are you mashing or whirlpools in the keg? If so, middle-ish and stir your liquid good to minimize stratification. It’s close enough.

If not mashing or whirlpooling, Maybe not much benefit. Liquid is boiling or it isn’t.

Also keep in mind that if you mount it too high, it won't reach the liquid in smaller batches.
