Can't say this works from experience, but I came across it so I thought I'd share it.

If you mix 2 tablespoons of live yeast with 2 cups of whey and spray this on your garden, it's supposed to attract ladybugs. Ladybugs of course, eat tons of aphids and are good to encourage in your garden.

If you aren't a cheesemaker and don't have whey, I read you can substitute 2 cups of water and 2 tablespoons of sugar for the whey.

I don't have a garden yet, but I think I might spray this around my yard and see if it works!

Awesome I'll need to try this soon... should do some good for the hops as well. Of course ladybugs are aggressive voracious eaters of aphids. Aphids are of cours voracious eaters of pepper and tomato plants and can become problematic with several other crops.

Wonder if I can get my hands on some whey around here...

Had to chyme in for a second because I eat loads of whey isolate every day...find a gym lover, and you're sure to find whey nearby. But really, your local vitamin/supplement shop should have some pure isolated whey. If you want it that much :D

I usually just dump it down the drain. I should probably start dumping it on the compost pile at the very least.

If you get some yogurt and strain it through some cheese cloth on a mesh strainer for a few hours you can seperate the whey from the casin (sp?) then you get 1) yogurt cheese and 2) whey.

I dump spent hops, grains and yeast cakes right onto my compost pile. Sometimes I'll just dump the entire yeast cake onto our trees, and grape vines. The spent grains and hops seem to get eaten up quickly by my red wigglers.

Cool, I just made a batch of cheese today and still have a pot of whey setting on the counter. Think I'll stroll out to the garden.
