Lids are pain to get off. Especially leaning into a chest freezer for a peak. It would be so nice just to unscrew the lid. Not to mention I would think it would be better for air leaks and get a little more bubble fun.

The only downfall I can think of is possible crud in the threads causing an infection but I'm thinking a simple wipe down and Starsan spray would work for that.

Anyone use one? I don't think I've ever seen it mentioned here.
 
Don't know about an "air tight" seal, on the threads.

That , and crud in the adapter ring that snaps on the bucket.......You could remove it and clean it, but these setups are sometimes a little difficult to remove.
 
Thinking about it the adaptor ring could be difficult to clean and dumping yeast into a mason jar could/would get caught up in the ring....maybe not such a good idea
