So there a fruit fly has landed in my cider. I have named him Geoff. I have retrieved Geoff from my carboy, but I'm worried about Geoff's aceto friends. Anyone know what to do in this situation? Is it possible to kill everything with campden once I hit FG?

The cider is 5 gallons of local no preservative cider (not sure if pasteurized), a few pounds of maple syrup and some White Labs Trappist yeast.

No fix for it, if acetobacter was introduced.

Several things might help- campden tablets (1 crushed per gallon, dissolved in a little water), and making sure the cider is topped up as vinegar bacteria needs oxygen.

Add the campden NOW, though- don't wait!

drink it all as soon as it's ready, don't plan on long term aging.

I say this having never made any cider before christmas 2013.
