Hi all just a quick question. If i buy one of those beer tins from Wilko such as the Mexican cerveza. Can i convert it into a fruit beer lets say blueberry.
i haven't done it but i've seen it talked about on here. you can add the fruit into the primary, at pitching, and extract alcohol from the fruit sugars, or you can add it like you would a dry hop.
I've added a bunch of fruit (well actually a vegetable in this case) to the primary and it turned out just fine. Just gently drop them in to not splash. I dumped 3 whole large cucumbers in a saison along with some sprigs of mint
Fruit beers are defiantly a thing. The rule of thumb is 1 lb. of fruit per gallon of beer. You can adjust that to achieve the flavor you are looking for. Most of the sugars ferment out so I always go heavy on the fruit.
