My buddy tried to do this for me last year. They send me two issues and then stopped. When I called and asked the magazine what was up they said he never paid so they cancelled the subscription. WTH is that???

You'd have to ask your buddy. If he didn't pay for his subscription renewal then your subscription also ends as the gift is part of a buy one get one offer to renew.

FWIW, I paid outright for my subscription so the winner my drawing is all setup and the subscription will last for the year as intended. :)
