Forgot to add the irish moss in at the end of my boil last Friday... And it's a Pale Ale, so, I'd like to get it to clear if possible...

Are there any tricks that I can use when transferring to a secondary?

I plan on kegging this one after it's in the secondary for a bit...

secondary is a good clarifying tool on its own. You can add finings to your secondary, but I'll leave that process to others since I've never done it.

I would cold crash it. Transfer to secondary and then get it in the 30s for 3-5 days. Most everything should fall out.

True, the secondary will clear it a bit... Just looking for something to really get it cleaned up.

Don't think I can do the cold crash technique since I don't have a spare fridge laying around...

Gelatin will do a GREAT job of clarifying your beer. Just get unflavored Knox Gelatin from the grocery store, mix a package of it up in 1/4 up of water, bring to 160F (DO NOT BOIL) and then dump it into your secondary. Rack your beer in on top of it, and in 2 to 5 days...stand back and marvel at your crystal clear beer.

if i am not using a secondary can i still mix up the gelatin, cool it, and dump it in my primary, let sit, and still marvel at my crystal clear beer?

Time. Time is a great clarifying agent.

nothing 'wrong' with gelatin, but maybe 3 weeks in secondary, and then let it go a couple weeks in the keg in the cold to finish dropping out the yeasties.

so when using gelatin in my secondary, do i dump it in my empty secondary while it is still hot, then allow it to solidify, then rack from my primary?

Thanks everyone!

I think I'll give the gelatin thing a shot... If for no other reason than to add another tool to the box.

+^ What everybody else said. Gelatin works very, very well and the longer you can leave your beer in the secondary the clearer it will be.
