Well. I came down with a stomach virus, and have been in bed the whole day... caught it from the swmbo...

*but thats not the main concern here... today I was told by my mother that my cousin ,who I am very close with, has a malignant brain tumor.

His name is Jason McConnell and lives in Texarkana, Tx. He is almost 32, is married, and has a 4 year old.

Please keep him in your prayers.

one of my grandfathers was the general manager of the cooper tire plant there, and the other grandfather was the head chemist...

In fact, other than them, 4 of my other relatives, including my cousins father, works in the plant..

kinda a worn out town, but guy's hamburgers are the best...

hmmm... i think so, they haven't been doing very well, a lot of outsourcing. I think the plant in TX only runs 3 hours a day...

Oh, I'm so sorry to hear this! I will keep Jason and his family in my prayers. Is it a treatable (operable) tumor? Maybe though cancer treatment and surgery he can be helped.

Please let us know how he is doing as time goes on. My thoughts and prayers are with you, too. I know this is a shock to your entire family.

Thanks again for your concern. They are going to be doing something locally in Texarkana, then he will be transported to Little Rock to see the specialist/surgeon. He is a HVAC worker, so he has to be on his feet a bunch, so we pray that this isnt going to effect that.

The ironic thing is, he was about to start his own business, and wouldn't have insurance for a while... thank god if it had to happen, it happened while he was still under the companies insurance. They say he will have to have something like 90 MRI's before it is all over...

well... he is having surgery tomorrow in Dallas.. i will let you all know the outcome when i can... thanks again for your support.

well.. after 8 hours of surgery, he came through.

So far so good... he was able to recognize everyone, and looks like he hasn't lost any mobility. Because the cancer was in the crevices of the brain, the surgeon wasnt able to get it all... Now we have to wait until they find out what type of cancer it is, and how it is to be treated.

The lucky thing is, he didn't have insurance until 3 months ago...

But everything is looking good, thanks for all your prayers and thoughts...

I will keep you all updated whenever I hear something new...

well.. they found out what type it was. I dont remember the name, but it doesn't sound good. A family member looked up info on it, and it seems like only 5% of people with that type live more than 3 years.

He and his wife are going to have to file for bankruptcy, the surgery alone cost $200,000. Insurance covered most of it..

So at this point in your life, what would you do?

Would you take any treatment you could? Or would you accept it and try and live out your life, doing everything you wanted?
