Is this OK? It's day 5 in the fermenter and the cider is fizzing but there is no foam or anything on top. I was googling pics and it looks like there should be foam on top. The airlock has a bubble about every 3 seconds, hasn't gotten any faster than that. It's 68-70 in the house in the day and down to 60-62 at night (only about 8 hours).
It smells delicious. :)

I've had a few batches that never really developed any foam on top. Just small clusters of bubbles. The fizzing is a sign its fermenting, so I think you are fine. ;)

Good to hear. Thank you. I wonder if means it's fermenting slower?
The yeast is pretty settled on the bottom, too. The videos I watched showed yeasty lava lamp type activity, but mine looks bored.

What yeast? What temperature is it fermenting at? What ingerdients and procedure did you start with? All of that will play into how aggressive your fermentation is.

That being said, when I do ciders they are pretty slow fermenting and thats fine by me, I'm in no sort of rush!

It's 1 gallon in a glass carboy, 2 parts hansens organic and 1 part martinellis apple juice with 1 cup brown sugar and white labs english cider yeast. Starting gravity: 1.064

I've never gotten a head in any of my normal ciders. I did get one with pumpkin pie spices, but then it fell out within 2 to 3 days.

I'm doing the first cider I've done since 1984. Also the first one that isn't a wild yeast fermentation. Mine got a little bit of foam (I won't call it krausen) that looked more like dumping the juice into the carboy with gusto... More like a nearly flat soda type of foam.
