Hi Folks!

So I made a first attempt at washing yeast (Safale K-97) just to see how/if I could do. I know some feel dry yeast isn't the best to reuse but I'm only 8 batches in and dry is all my lhbs sells.

So down to business. I tried mixing it, letting it settle, transfer and repeat. Leaving it in the fridge overnight and this it what I woke up to.

Looks to me as though I've just ended up with trub, anyone able to help? Don't know if the photos are clear enough.

Thanks
Dave

Yeast washing is becoming a thing of the past for most. Just save the slurry from medium OG and less hopped batches in sanitized mason jars and pitch a portion of the cake. MrMalty has a tab for calculation how much slurry to use.

That picture looks like a pretty clean trub/yeast mixture. Meaning there is not a lot of grain or hop debris in with the yeast.

Save it and use it. Depending on the age you may want to make a starter with the slurry.

Thanks for the advice, I'll bare that in mind. At the moment I havent really done much in the way of hop heavy brews so might be just as easy to take straight from the slurry.
