So I just made my first starter. I am starting with a 1l starter and am going to step up to two liters tomorrow.
I boiled my 1l water to 100g dme and after some of the water boiled off I am left with 600ml of wort.
Do I just add more water to bring that back up to 1000ml?

Sounds like you boiled too long or too vigorously. Don't add ANYTHING after the boil except for the yeast. I recommend adding water back to 1L, boiling for 10min, cooling, then adding the yeast.

Just to be clear, you don't have to do an hour boil for a starter like you do with wort....I boil for around 10 minutes usually, and only lose around 50 mL water at most.....

Yeah it was weird, I only boiled for about 10 min and I thought for sure that I used a full liter. I must have spaced it on the measure cause I know there is no way I boiled off that much liquid in 10 min.

Thanks for the replies!
