So I brewed a batch of pale ale Saturday I was giving it a shot at a higher abv beer my og is 1.080. I used Whitelabs American ale yeast 060. I gave always used dry yeast and rehydrated it's been 48hrs and no action yet. Don't now if I should be patient or go get some more yeast. With my rehydrated yeast it's always bubbled in 24 to 36 hrs. This was an expensive batch I want to rescue it.

I was wondering if I should have used a started the guy at the brew shop just said to warm the vial to room temp and shake and pour. It is also sitting at 62 deg. So I will warm it up I was worries about the temp. Would it hurt to repitch. I used 1 prepackaged white labs vial and it said that that yeast could do up to a 10 abv beer. Thanks for the link that will be helpful.

For a normal gravity beer you would need at least two of those vials to reach normal pitch rate. By normal gravity I mean 1.060 or less. Yours is a pretty big beer so you would need a 2 litre starter or so. That being said I would repitch if it were me.

So I warmed it up to about 72 and it took off in the middle of the night now it's bubbling like crazy and it's actually rolling in the carboy the sediment is being picked up off the bottom and floating around. Im still pretty new at this never seen that before.
