So it’s my first time making mead and a yellow film appeared at the top of the batch. Was wondering if you guys could tell me if it’s alright.

Looks like yeast and foam from the ferment to me.

Watch to be sure it doesn't turn colors and get hairy.

Alright thanks! Also how fast should the honey be "eaten" I started it thursday night and about half the honey is "gone"
 
If it's a JAOM then per the recipe do not touch it. Leave it until the fruit drops and it clears or about 30 days.
 
If it's early in the brew you may want to give it a shake and get some of that yeast into the brew. If it's in fact yeast, that's an awful lot to just be sitting there.
