Well Ive been itching to try some barleywine type ale....and I picked up a 750ml of Hogs Heaven today and sampled. I was rather suprised at the lasting alcohol after taste (in a great way) with only a 9.7% beer. I enjoyed myself thoroughly and cannot wait to brew my own. The kit put together by my LHBS runs $36 for their version of barleywine. Anyone been able to make some for less using partial mash extracts?

I think you mean Barleywine, but in that case there are some great recipes floating around. Just do a search and you should find some good ones

The harshness will fade after 6-8 months & they just keep getting better. I brewed one in Dec. 2005, but I'm still drinking the 2003.

That's not a bad price for a partial as the target OG should be 1.100 to 1.120.
