Hey all. So I just put together my first recipe using a spreadsheet I came across and previous kit experiences (~6+). How does it look?

Grain Bill
5 lbs Light DME
1 lb Briess 2-row
1 lb flaked wheat
6-8 oz Biscuit

Hops
0.5 oz Chinook (60 min)
0.5 oz Amarillo, 0.5 oz Citra (10 min)
1 oz Citra (flame-out)
0.5 oz Amarillo, 0.5 oz Citra (dry hop)

Yeast
Wyeast 1056 with starter

Suggestions welcome. Thanks!

The grain bill looks great.

But if you really want a beer focused on Citra or any hop for that matter, you're gonna need at least double all those late hop amounts (assuming 5gal batch)

Cool, thanks! It is a 5 gallon batch, forgot that tidbit.

I initially wanted to focus on Citra as I heard so many good things about it, and then decided to do a combination to add a little complexity. Maybe I will add more Citra late addition as you suggested to make it dominant while still having aspects of the combination in there.

So I changed it up a bit...4 lbs DME instead of 5, and the following for the hop schedule

.25 Chinook 50 min
1 oz Citra, 0.5 oz Amarillo 5 min
1 oz Citra, 0.5 oz Amarillo 1 min

Wyeast 1056 at 66F

Tried to focus on the late hop additions, no idea how this one will turn out. 1.042 OG and about 30 IBUs. What would this technically even be, an APA?

I'm going to taste it after primary to see if I will dry hop. Hope it turns out good! :D

Is the 2-row and wheat to add body and head?

Thanks guys. The flaked wheat was for head retention and body, and 2-row as a base malt for it's diastatic power.

Hope to try some by mid January (just went into primary a few days ago), will post back with some updates!

Cheers

So I took a sample yesterday (T+12 days) to test the FG (1.010), and it was pretty damn good. The citra definitely hits the nose with citrus first, and then some tropical fruit undertones. It's a light beer, but that's what I was going for.

I think I may dry hop in primary with another ounce of citra for 3 days to kick the aroma up a notch as its so nice :) If I do I'll bottle it on Monday and let it sit for 3-4 weeks.
