First mead

So this is my first mead. It's in tertiary fermentation (3ed transfer) think it is clearing ok and or how much longer do I have to go? I'm probably about a month deep since I pitched the yeast

How long you have to go depends upon what your looking for and what you started with. If your Gravity readings are stable (no change) for 5 - 7 days then your ferment is probably done. From the apparent clarity in your pic you are probably ready to check.

Oh yeah fermentation has been done since I went to secondary. I'm just wonder how long it will take to get apple juice clear
 
Apple juice? Is this a cyser? What juice did you use?
Haha I mean just as clear as apple juice. It's a mead. Honey, water, yeast, and nutrients. I've just seen ppl with super clear meads and was wondering the time frame. It's in my basement at around 67 to 65 degrees

I've tried the refrigerator thing and it worked to a point . I used Bentonite on the last couple meads and man did that clear up very nice .
 
An average timeframe for traditionals to clear naturally can be from 2 to 5 months in my experience, but I don't use clearing agents so keep that in mind. Also with a smoother ferment it will do the most to take time off the clearing process, what are you hoping to do with this as a final product? Standard traditional, adding spices or fruit, maybe just see where it goes?

I think I'm just going to let it be the way it is. First mead so I Wana get that meady taste. Yeah I don't like adding alot of stuff either
 
That's what I started with just to understand what mead was supposed to be and figure out if I could replicate what I was doing. Like any mead or wine you can have something tasty whenever you decide it is so, but if you can let it be, time does all sorts of things to age and blend flavors that in my opinion just make it that much better. To each his own and wish you best of luck, hope to see how this turns out.
 
Update- found the only useful thing for snow in chicago lol

First thing - stop racking. You're wasting mead with each rack if it's not absolutely needed. If I were you I'd fine it with Bentonite, let it sit for a week or two and then bottle from there to condition in the bottle.
Ten four. Yeah I just wanted to get rid of as much of the junk as I could. I won't rack further from here. I'm going to try to keep adding snow for a few days and see what happens. Then I'll go the bent route if it fails
 
Cold crashing should be done to as cold as possible, preferably at or near freezing. That drops out most things fastest. Doesn't clear up a mead in my experience to crystal clear though. Fining agents or time does.
