sounds about right. I'm no expert when it comes to mead but I've got three under my belt that turned out great, and that's basically the process I used.

depends on your tap. If you'd drink it from the tap it's fine. Boiling isn't necessary, from what I've read/been told.

Go over to the gotmead forums and their "NewBee" guide is linked in the left column. An excellent guide that pretty much answers all the early questions......

Here's a possible issue. I pitched last night and the honey and water separated with the honey sitting on the bottom. It's black. No carbonation yet... Time to start worrying?

Just shake it up a bit to get the honey mixed back in. Did you aerate at all to begin with? If not the yeast are probably starved for oxygen.

i'm with you, first time. honey + bottled spring water to 1.108. d47. used nutriferm energy during rehydration. used some DAP and nutriferm advance in a staggered nutrient schedule. i've been aerating twice a day.

I aerated it plenty at the start. Guess I'll do it twice a day as suggested. Thanks

Which is fine, but as you've used d47 you'll be wanting to keep the ferments temp below 70F otherwise you'll be making lots of fusels, and it'll take forever to age........
