I finally put together all the components for my keg system about a month ago. I kegged a batch of pale bock about 3 weeks ago. It has been sitting with about 15 psi for 3+ weeks. There is plenty of carbonation when I poor a pint, probably too much. But the beer tastes flat, like there is no carbonation in it.

Any suggestions?

check for leaks on your keg, if you have not already. I know that when I pour a pint that has been hooked up for only a few days, I get plenty of foam because the co2 has not had time to fully dissolve into sol'n. Once it hits EQ there is much less foam after pouring a pint. I'd guess your o-rings are leaking and the gas is getting into the keg just fine.

good luck!!

If it is leaking, do I disconnect co2, open keg and replace O rings? Assuming it is the rings leaking?

I do not see how your beer could be on 15 psi for 3 weeks and not be carbonated. It only takes about a week or less. Something else is going on. Why not have someone else try it?

What about his pour? If hes dispensing at 15 psi w short lines that could make for a really fat pour and if he's just splashing it right in the middle of the glass, he'd get a lot of foam but much of the CO2 would be let out of solution. No?

The head is typically just escaped trapped CO2. But you bring up a good point, if his beer is over-carbed (which it might be at 15 psi) then perhaps he is having an uncontrolled release of all the CO2 when he does the pour. More info is needed! Does the beer excessively foam when poured? Do other beers on the same kegerator have adaquate carbonation?
