Brewed my first AG batch in over two years today. Everything started of awesome. Hit my strike temp spot on, missed my step temp by 2 degree, mash out went as planned, sparge went well hit an 81% efficiency . Boil went good only one boil over snuck up on me. No worries. I said to my buddy that I was impressed that things were going so smoothly. Finished the boil. Started cooling. Got the wort down to 90. (About the same temp as the air). Decided to drain BK into fermenter and finish chilling in the house. Opens the ball valve and. Nothing. Figuring that the screen must be clogged scraped it with the spoon nothing. Tilted Bk back to see what the problem was. The Wc had set on the hose I had going from a false bottom to the valve and flattened it. So I ended up taking a measuring cup ans sanitizing it and scooping it out of the kettle through a strainer into fermenter. Pulled a sample for hydro readin. All sorts of floating chunks. Anyone have any ideas what efects I can expect?

As long as you maintained sanitization, you should be fine. I assume you are worried about the "floating chunks", but many people drain the entire BK into the fermenter without major ill effects, and some even argue the break material can help fermentation. It will settle out. Enjoy the brew, and welcome back!

I screwed up a barley wine one time. The lhbs was out of the pellet hops I wanted and I bought leaf instead. I just dumped in the leaf hops and when if came time to drain into the fermenter I couldn't. I spent forever with a colander and a pitcher draining and straining out the hops. Probably took an hour. Somehow I didn't end up with any infection. Still not sure how that happened. I would have been pissed after spending all that time and money on ingredients!
