Just did my first brew lastnight!!! It was a Muntons Irish style premium light ale. Everything seemed to go smooth and I had no problems. After I opened my can of extract though I was a little surprised at the smell, my wife described it as sort of a burnt carmelized smell I was expecting more of a beer smell! I don't know if thats normal or just depends on the type and style but we''ll see after a couple of months what it tastes like. :mug:

They all smell like that, if you taste some, it's like an earthy-caramel type flavor. Just like a lot of things added to beer, the flavor will change after fermentation and I'm sure you will be very happy with the results.

Thanks Beninan I was a little woried about it, but one thing I have learned from this forum is don't worry just WAIT give it time, so that was my plan. I did taste it and your right it did kinda taste like that!! Now I want to get some more primary's and start some more. lol But this will be kegged and I only have one so it will have to wait. Besides SWMBO is allready a little cranky with how much I have spent on supplies!!!
