I just had some of my first batch of beer ever. It tasted, well, like beer. It was an American Light Lager. Most of my friends are pleased with it, but it taste a little sweet for me. Any tips on how I can go about changing the recipe to find my taste?

Thanks to all of you for all the info on this site! It has been a huge help.

Cheers

What was your Final Gravity? Also, what temperature did you lager it at? Did you do a diacetyl rest? Diacetyl, they say, tastes slightly buttery, but I think it's sort of sweet as well. It could be diacetyl.

My final gravity was 1.016. I lagered at 60 degrees. Not sure what a diacetyl rest is, please advise.
