So I started a Orchards Breezin Mist a couple weeks ago. I'm at the stage where you add all the clearing stuff and stir. From what I understand is I jut add all the stuff in fermenter (in order according to instructions) mix it all together and recap the fermenter. It goes into secondary later down the road, correct? Ah! I just read that you transfer to another fermenter before mixing the clearing stuff in. Guess I'm not doing it tonight...no clean fermenters

Any other tips or suggestions before I dig in tonight?

thank you

If you are planning on stirring in the fining agents, the only thing I would add is that you stir gently to avoid introducing any o2 into the beer.

Beer Diary...

this is wine and the instructions say to stir vigorously after racking to secondary while adding the clearing agents

Yep, you're stirring vigorously to degas. Still shoudl be enough SO2 dissolved in from the potmeta.

Most common mistake for first time winemakers with these kits is not degassing enough> I know I had that issue mroe than once. :)

OK so I just put my wine into the secondary fermenter. I degassed for well over 10 minutes; I can tell it did something significant because my house REEKS! How long is that going to last???

wow
