I am brewing a Belgian Blonde Ale. I just bottled it after 3 weeks in the the secondary fermenter. The total amount bottled worked out to be just over 4 gallons. I added 3/4 cup of the priming sugar to this amount which was boiled in 2 cups of water for 15 minutes. During the boiling the priming sugar solution darkened a little. My questions are: was this too much priming sugar to add? Will the darkened solution cause off flavors? Thanks.

It looked like powdered sugar. It came in a kit pre measured to 3/4 cup. I mixed it to 2 cups of water and boiled for 15 minutes to sterilize it.

it was more than likely Corn sugar, thats the most common for priming. Normally for the priming sugar you dont have to boil it for any length of time...just get it up to a boil. the alc content in the beer at this stage is enough to combat any bugs that might want to infect the beer.
sounds like you caramelized the sugar a little bit, but think its 2 cups of water and 3/4 cup sugar in 4 gallons, it wont affect the taste and if it does it wont hardly be noticeable. and no this wasnt to much sugar. Good luck, Brew ON!
