I've got 36 16.9 fl. oz. bottles filled. My ferms are empty.

I had exactly 5 gals in my bottling bucket because I brewed over to bottle 5 gals instead of 4.5 or something else.

Bottling was fun, the only thing I was unsure of was head space, probably shoulda researched that more prior.

3 weeks from today I will put a couple in the fridge and test them a couple days after that.

I'm excited!

Grats, that first batch will always be remembered! :mug:

OK, now that's out of the way, drink one or two early. This is your first batch, so use this as an excuse to learn how beer matures with time. Sure, people will tell you that you're drinking your stuff young and wasting it. This is the time to do that. Now go get an extra carboy or two, then you can work on that whole patience thing. :D

You should have a bottling wand. It has a valve on the end so it doesn't start filling until it is at the bottom of the bottle so you don't introduce oxygen into your beer when filling and is made so when the bottle is full to the rim, when you remove it the beer it displaced is reduced just the right amount for the proper headspace. They look like this one and are not very expensive.

The bottling wand does work. When you remove it the head space is just right. I have a batch to bottle soon as well.

Bottling, fun? I've been through 5 batches so far and already I'm sick of it lol.

Sounds like everything went smoothly for you, more than I can say about my first batch. Congrats!
