So last night I brewed up my first batch. Its a partial mash and it was as exciting as it was scary. I had a fairly big boil over and made a pretty good mess on the stove. My pot turned out to be too small and my wife had to run to wally world and buy a big pot for me. I had made my own wort chiller that had some teething issues but did work after a few minor adjustments. I used a 5 gal bucket for my fermenter so there was only about 3/4 of an inch between my wort and the lid. I had made my yeast starter the day before and i started to get bubbles through the air lock after a bout 3 hours.
I went to sleep for a few hours, got up and it had pushed bubbles and beer through the air lock. after some panicing i put my racking hose in the bung (luckly it fit tight) and ran that to a bowl. went back to bed and this morning the bowl was half full of suds and beer.
My question is did i blow out all of my yeast? Will it blow suds till it just stops or do i need to relax and wait? Should i buy a bigger bucket and transfer it over?
One thing i'm glad i did was put a trash bag under the fermenter. that would have been verrrry messy!

Thanks!

I don't think you need to worry about blowing out your yeast. There's plenty still swirling around in the bucket. BTW - you should get a 6+ gallon glass carboy. Then you can watch the yeasties doing their turbulent magic, have enough headspace, and not worry about scratching the plastic in the bucket (places for bacteria to hide).
