Do finings really help ? I remember 40 years ago using them regularly but forget if they done any good
Thanks I'll give it a goForgot, I always use whirlfloc last 10 minutes of my boil which also helps for clear beer. I definitely think it makes a difference.
Its only ales and bitters I am doing at the minute, My first brew which I didn't use finings is quite clear after 6 days in the bottle and tastes fine so I'm not sure about extra expenses. I only use beer its and not really in to boiling and stuffAs others have stated I always throw in a whirfloc with 10 minutes left. I have tried gelatin and biofine clear and have found that the biofine works better on the type of beers I brew (Ales). Biofine is a bit more expensive but i split a bottle with a couple other homebrewers, plus the convenience makes it worth it to me.
What type of gelatin and when do you addGelatin works like a charm for me. $3 for a box and the box lasts a long time. Worth it to me.
How much do you use.I have had good results with Knox unflavored gelatin. I cold crash in the fermenter for one day, then add the gelatin solution and let it sit for another day or two before bottling or kegging.
Wow dump precious beer
