Filtering only makes sense if you're force carbonating since bottle conditioning will create sediment of it's own, or if you're making commercial batches.

For the home cidermaker I just don't see the point in shelling out a couple hundred dollars for a home sized filter when other options (fining, waiting, cold crashing etc) are available and much cheaper.
