...is Mikerphone throwing a festival?

And did ticket sales go very poorly?

Yes, and seems aside from selling out quickly it went pretty smoothly it seems.

500 tickets total, and 93% bought the $105 package (x4 of BA Smells Like Bean Spirit and entrance to the festival) for a nice $48,825.00 and since no one bought the designated driver ticket that means another $1,925.00 in entrance only tickets for a total $$$ earned of $50,750.00 in just a few minutes.

Not sure about the bottles, but the festival revenue is being donated.

The event description said “part of your admission will benefit the Youth Scholarship Fund”. Always find it sketchy when I don’t see “all proceeds” or “XX% of all proceeds”. Seems like it’s just a throwaway comment

As a fellow that donates money...it’s because of legal definitions and litigation. What’s bottom line profit or proceeds from a tax perspective? Outta tank, cost of bottles, after cost of supplies, before taxes, after taxes, etc etc. It opens yrself up to ********, so sometimes folks can be vague. Technically middle brow lost money last year so by virtue of donating half our profits, I should be knocking on some charity doors asking for money back.

but what is the youth scholarship fund...sounds like the human fund. like technically the money i make goes to two youths scholarship funds, dont most w/ kiddos?

I dont exactly work for PwC, but if you donated half of your profits, you shouldn't have lost anything, just finished with less profit than you had.

right..it was a reference to what does an entity define as a profit versus what someone in the govt. versus someone in a business and throw in the idea is it per beer, per year, per batch? we run a simple number after we package a beer, and round. not adding other business **** and other things that factor in (amazing amount of fee's and nonsense related to being a contract brewer...really a storage fee for that barrel on top of your barrels?). also some folks lose money on some beers and make money on others so we arrive at numbers that make us happy and comfortable which should be around 50% if nonsense was removed.

whatever...none of this matters because middle brows the ****** loyola of clickbait!!!! final 4!!!!!

I hope you put “Loyola of Clickbait” somewhere in your taproom

You should hurry over and try Zamora before it kicks. Oooooeeee dat Nelson doe

Had to go back yesterday for another pour and a fill. Can confirm that the beer is named Zapora and it's spectacular. OG Nelson / HF Nelson Pale Ale levels of delicious and I would buy a case for summertime crushing.

Zapora and Indefinite Portal are maybe my two favorite IPA/PA they've ever made right up there with the first batch of Annica. I think that was the first time I ever had Mosaic hops and wow does that seem like a long time ago.

Oh snaps you threw Portal out there.. now I HAVE to go try it..

Like most of you, I've had OG Pseudo Sue, Florida Sue, Costco Sue, Back-in-Iowa Boxed Sue, DDHs, etc. All have been good, though some significantly better than others, as documented many times in here. There's a keg of regular Sue that I had on tap at the Green Lady yesterday that put them all to shame and might have been the best hazy beer I've ever had. Highly recommend if you're in the Lakeview area, right by the new WF. Worth a special trip in.

Also...
Monteverde
This was a great West Loop recommendation, very modern Italian that paired nicely with a few Apex Predators. Went in at 5:20 with no reservation on a Wednesday and was seated immediately, though it was definitely crowded. Followed that with Fist City's at the Big Star in the United Center while bringing sexy back. JT unfortunately felt the need to interrupt each song of the night 4-5 times with:

"Chicagooooooo" and "CHI-TOWWWWWNNN" smh

I feel like Cruz Blanca doesn’t get much press, chatter or love but had a quiet lunch with a wheatwine, mango Berliner, BA brown ale, hazy IPA and a coconut porter that all blew my socks off. I don’t remember them being that lights out before but damn they’re coming into their own.

I was just up there for the first time 2 weeks ago, had the BA brown that was great. I thought the Mango Berliner was just ok, the tacos made up for it though.

bunch of half pours with wife

the best thing was the nitro coconut porter. i guess by virtue of having minimal expectations and just wanting one of those giant pizza tostada thingys, my mind melted.

I was unfortunately taking a client out to lunch so I couldn’t do too much sampling but I will be back up there to run through what they have on tap soon, after the BA Brown I have no doubt they can make some damn good beers.

Glad that Jacob is still making great beer! I love to see Goose Clybourn alums doing well.

Middlebrow vs. PDubs for the title: http://thehopreview.com/blog/chicago-brewery-bracket-championship

A TalkBeer rivalry dating all the way back to 2015. You couldn't script it any better folks!

it's middlebro, brah
this guy's so busy setting up a new brewhouse he can't respond to a message I sent him but has time to insult my company name on a public forum. whatever...middle brows starting a membership program named bro's with benefits. for 100 bucks everyone gets a middle brow tank-top, brightly colored plastic sunglasses, a snifter, a baseball hat with instructions for it to only be worn backwards, and 5 BA beers. #BWB
