DINOS'MORES| 10.5% Imperial Stout
mager Bryghus and West Lakeview Liquors

When we launched BorrachaBaker made us some s'mores shaped like dinosaurs for our launch event. Then, we made an imperial stout with graham flour, marshmallow fluff, vanilla, and cocoa nibs with Amager and West Lakeview Liquors. Then, we brought this beer to the Brewpub Shootout and paired the beer named after the food with a food the beer wasn't named after. People were confused and named it best beer (or was it food?) at the Shootout.

ABV: 10.5% | IBU:40

Malts: Pale, Vienna, Wheat, Cara II, Extra Special, Flaked Oats, Dark Chocolate, Black, Roasted Barley

Hops: Nugget

Secret Ingredients: Marshmallow fluff, vanilla beans, molasses, graham flour, cocoa nibs

Availability: Draft and Bottle

Opened a Regal, currently sipping at room temp. It's nice but miles below coffee this year. I get some sweet Berry/cherry but nothing like the jamminess that was Bramble or even Backyard. I'm really sad I'm not getting any sea salt too, since that's what I was looking forward to most. Regal is a good beer, better than most ba stouts, but not in the same class as some other BCBSs.

So I'll keep an eye out on the toy counter but tentatively thinking next sunday the 13th or a day after work on the following week. Will update accordingly but whenever they put Have S'more on expect to see me at the pub until the keg is gone.

I hope the kids want star wars toys.

So if you aren't heading up to Marshall MI next weekend, I've got a few recommendations for you in the Western Burbs.

On Friday 12/11, Brixies in Brookfield IL will be having their barrel aged blowout with a few Bourbon Counties (plus the Hop Rocket loaded up with a couple of infusions, not sure what as of yet), Firestone Walker, Floyds, Etc... BA Beers. Chris sounded pretty excited about his lineup which makes me pissed I'll be out of town.

Also on Saturday 12/12 Imperial Oak is releasing a new barrel aged beer which I've copied the details below.

Saturday December 12th at 12pm we will be releasing “Barrel Aged Dark Abbey”. This Belgian Stout has finished an 11 month sabbatical in rye whiskey barrels and has returned with renewed strength and balance. At 9% Dark Abbey holds a rich chocolate and toffee character with undertones of ripened stone fruits. A limited quantity of 22oz bottles will again be sold for $15 (cash only) from our adjacent dry storage space at 12pm. Bottle limit per person to be announced the day of the release. In addition to the original barrel aged version we will also have a cherry infused version on tap too.

As always if you head out to Imperial Oak and don't like the beer I encourage you to blame my father (or duckyboycantfly).

The Whole Foods in Wheaton is a few minutes away from my office. I drove by on my way in this morning and the line was probably 75 deep at 7:30.

I stopped by WF in Kildeer at 7:58. Probably 50 deep. Got 1 regular and a 1/2 gallon of milk. Lulz. Saw everything from girlfriend mules whining about being tired to a ~3 year old. Beer is so dumb. At least I didn't wait more than 2 minutes.

Several nerds walked away when the variants dried up. Guess you can't really scalp a single Regular on Craigslist, so what's the point huh?

Sounds like Streeterville and Halsted were nice for getting variants, including Rare.

Evanston doesn't allow singles to be sold (except for some Jewel mixed-six exceptions, and Evanston 1st has the only bomber exception), but I guess they do allow cases of beer to be sold no matter the size...I didn't see that coming, we'll see how the wife takes the news. They only got regular, BTW.

Also edited to add - I walked in at 9:15 after the school drop-off - no line, no waiting.

Went to the Whole foods in Boystown/Wrigley. Got there at 6:45 they opened at 8. I was 7th in line super easy wait. Brought us out coffee and all of the staff could not have been nicer to us. Another easy super well run release which surprisingly happened a lot this year.

Has anyone in here ever used BCBS to make desserts with?
Or has anyone ever experimented with it in other dishes?

I want to make some BCBS fudge, or something like that... couldnt find anything online really.

Just throwing this post out here. I think I remember someone in here talking about a syrup/concentrate?

I've used it in cupcakes, stew, and pulled pork. Pulled pork was my favorite as it just worked really well - lots of bourbon goodness. Stew didn't do too much different from using any other stout. Cupcakes were delicious, but the bourbon cream cheese frosting is what made those imo.
