I know folks love to give Half Acre **** about bombers vs cans on things, so have at it: http://halfacrebeer.com/blog/2015/3/19/space-ipa

I've had it on draft a few times and it really wasn't that special to me. Certainly not $9 bomber worthy. I'd rather have a TG bomber for cheaper. It's still cheaper than Three Floyds bombers so I really can't blame them. They'll still sell them out over a weekend, so cheers to them for making money.

I LOVE Space - IMO, it's one of the best readily available IPAs that Chicago ***** out. Readily available as in: usually tapped at the tap room which is walking distance from me. I've always wished that they'd start canning Space, as that'd fill the designated Senita location in my fridge in an instant. You're totally right about the price though, $9 is too much - I'd say $7 is more like it.

That said, this weekend I'm going to a tasting in Michigan with some buddies from out there, and you can bet your ass I'm bringing a few of these bombers with me to share.

Much PTO will be taken on Monday:

4 packs of KBS and CBS on tap at Binny's LP on Monday. That'll be loony. I'm just hoping that suburban Binny's only allow us to buy 1 bottle cause that'd be super sweet for a chain business to have completely different allocations yet again.
Well just come into the city then - my mules & I are planning on getting in line for that over-hyped ******** Saturday afternoon. Hopefully we'll be among the first 25 or so.

I thought maybe on some off chance somebody might be interested in this information as it is somewhat beer relevant. Broken Lizard will be doing a Chicago Beerfest in the Fall and you can secure tickets (which are costly) by funding Super Troopers 2. Here are the details:

I briefly considered dropping the $2500 to compete.

Hopefully regular GA tickets will be announced at a later date.

Fun times at Penrose today. Good crowd. Not crowded but folks came to drink. By 2.5 hrs in, we took down every specialty tapping. 2 bottles of SB 21 per person. It's an oak wild. If you want more detail, look at the sticker on the barrel numbered 21 in the warehouse. It tells you exactly what the beer is. Tart saison was a solid offering. Their version of a Flanders red was well balanced. Tart golden was also bright and quenching. Wild V remains one of my favorites. Bright lemon tartness but not overtly sour. Wild X was a big beer. Flanders-style 2/3 wine barrel aged and 1/3 bourbon. It was a not as sour comparable to Love Child 3. They've got levifunk coming to town soon I think if I heard correctly. Working toward a 4 pk $9 3.7% sour for summer. That should cover all the bases.

Swung in yesterday to try a bottle of the Single Barrel 21. Unfortunately, I wasn't all that impressed by it. Very acidic, slight hint of must/funk, light oak, but not much else going on. Fairly one dimensional. A decent enough beer, but nothing I'd ever pay $15 for again in the future. Not sure how it'll age in the bottle since it didn't appear there was any yeast in the bottom of the bottle.

Tart Golden was still on tap. It's definitely a different beer from when they had it on tap last summer. That was a 3.7% abv berliner-esque beer. What's on tap now is more of a brett beer similar to Matilda at 6/7% abv. Maybe the old Tart Golden is what turned into Deminimus. 4 packs of Deminimus will be pretty cool.

Was hoping they'd have leftover Anniversary glasses, but no dice on that. If you or anyone you know is interested in selling/trading theirs I'd be down to make an offer of beer/glass/cash. I've been waiting for Penrose do something different in the glass department before I got one since I already have a million different glasses with the tulip/snifters shape they use in the taproom.
