For those who have had BCBCS from bottle recently, how was it? Last few bottles I've had from black friday 4-pack were kind of rough. They're not bad, just reminded me a bit of how 2013 BCBCS tasted with a year on it. Had it on draft last week as well after cafe deth, and regretted not staying for another cafe deth instead. Perhaps palate just changing as well.

^ had one a couple weeks ago and kinda felt the same way. Glad to hear I'm not the only one. Don't think im going to let the last one hang around much longer

agree. it faded super quick this year from the bottle. i had a draft pour a couple weeks ago which was not quite as good as fresh but held up better than the bottle.
Add me to this choir - had my last bottle last night and... yeah, the coffee flavor that's left didn't leave much of an impression on me.

Not to get off topic but I hope that's true.

But I also hope that the "change" isn't because a bunch of questionable real estate deals that allowed it to be safe for upper middle class people to "slum" for a few years. I had some scary moments in that neighborhood- just visiting- but I'm not sure if hippy food production communes are an improvement for people there.

i hear you. if i had roots there, i would probably be wary, too. but given the other gentrifying options, a hippie food production commune seems a damn useful contribution to any neighborhood, let alone an underserved one like new city and its neighboring 'hoods. wait, are we allowed to discuss this on here? TL;DR, hashtag new money, hashtag LOL CCBE.

Operation: drink my last few BCBCS bottles is now active. Targets are loaded in the queue.

Opening one in little bit here, will report, and if it's going downhill the other is getting drank tonight or tomorrow. This makes me very sad - BCBCS is one of the beers I look forward to every year.

Don't mean to sound like a troll but it's a beer with fresh cold press added, ya, it's gonna fall off. With the exception of black cat espresso, everything else has been a mild coffee, of course it's gonna fall off.

After tasting it first, I bought it hoping it would indeed fall off a little...I've been waiting for some of the coffee's brightness (which always hits me as straight-up acidity) to die down. Maybe I'll crack one open to go with "The Walking Dead" tonight.

I like the way you think.

Drinking one now. This is typically my favorite BA coffee stout every year (presumably until I somehow land BA Sump lol) and my favorite style of beer. The coffee has definitely faded, it was definitely bright, almost citrusy, and acidic when I drank one on Black Friday, but this is still miles ahead of other BA coffee stouts imo. No green, earthy coffee notes like KBS was last year fresh and how 2012 BCBCS tastes presently based on reviews. Everything is very melded now and the coffee takes a back seat. Much sweeter than regular 2014 BCBS with a lot less bourbon prominence and with a lingering coffee aftertaste. Reminds me of coffee made from the barrel aged coffee beans tennispl and his awesome wife sent me. I will definitely drink my last bottle within the next month or two, but I'm not in a mega rush.

ChicagoGuy, based on what you said I think you'll really enjoy it if you drink one tonight. Interested to hear your thoughts once you done.

I don't think anyone was expecting it to still taste like it did 4 months ago - and it's possible that my recollection of previous years is faulty - but it just seemed to fall off more quickly this year. Then again, I thought the 2014 BCS release was disappointing overall so why should I expect better from the Coffee variant?

While at StoutFest, Marty said they may bottle Cafe Deth next year. They're also looking to revamp their coffee program (so to speak). They make a given base beer only once a year but will release it in waves shortly after adding coffee. That way, the beer gets to do whatever they expect it to do and the coffee flavor doesn't have time to fade.

I also repeated the plea for Coffee Eugene in one of their specialty six-pack releases. All he said was that Coffee Eugene has been a part of their internal discussions.

Rev + Coffee = Hnnnnggg! I need to taste both Coffee Eugene and Cafe Deth one of these days.

Also, one day I will taste Parabajava.

I haven't had a bottle in a month or so, however I thought that this years BCBCS was really good. IMO it was better than Vanilla Rye and far exceeded the 2014 Barleywine.

Fun times at Penrose today. Good crowd. Not crowded but folks came to drink. By 2.5 hrs in, we took down every specialty tapping. 2 bottles of SB 21 per person. It's an oak wild. If you want more detail, look at the sticker on the barrel numbered 21 in the warehouse. It tells you exactly what the beer is. Tart saison was a solid offering. Their version of a Flanders red was well balanced. Tart golden was also bright and quenching. Wild V remains one of my favorites. Bright lemon tartness but not overtly sour. Wild X was a big beer. Flanders-style 2/3 wine barrel aged and 1/3 bourbon. It was a not as sour comparable to Love Child 3. They've got levifunk coming to town soon I think if I heard correctly. Working toward a 4 pk $9 3.7% sour for summer. That should cover all the bases.

If it's the one they had in the taproom a month or so ago (Diminimus? Something like that) then I will buy the everloving **** out of it in 4 packs at that price.

Drank my last BCBCS with Walking Dead tonight. The coffee is definitely less prominent now, but I think it's drinking fantastically. "Faded" may be too strong of a word - it's not like you'd confuse this with regular. I'd call it "mellowed out" maybe.

Anyway, glad this topic came up because damn that was great. Happy I drank it when I did.

That's the one. Tom is working on scaling it up right now. It's literally the first thing he mentioned when I asked what he's up to. $40 cases too if it scales up properly. That deal is taproom only though.

Drinking one now. Mellowed is a good way of putting it. Still delicious.

I know folks love to give Half Acre **** about bombers vs cans on things, so have at it: http://halfacrebeer.com/blog/2015/3/19/space-ipa

I've had it on draft a few times and it really wasn't that special to me. Certainly not $9 bomber worthy. I'd rather have a TG bomber for cheaper. It's still cheaper than Three Floyds bombers so I really can't blame them. They'll still sell them out over a weekend, so cheers to them for making money.

Just give me those Fist City cans pronto Rev so it can blow up these bombers.

Space is a great beer. But I don't know who else but new money is gonna be buying these bombers. Growlers of it are only $12. I mean, c'mon.
