So a free sample of Abraxas was actually a highlight today?

Drove by Half Acre around 3, saw the 30+ deep line, and quickly said "**** it." Went to WLV instead and bought some Narke/De Molen/WLV collab "Goths and Vandals" and Mikkeller Beer Geek Dessert. They still had some of their Willet 11yr single barrel bourbon too (no rye).

why isnt anyone talking about this new sexy brewhouse & taproom coming to lincoln park? Its like drinking on the set of Office Space, doesn't this building look inviting and not like a suburban corporate park?

The Trib is on this story: http://www.chicagotribune.com/lifestyles/food/ct-finch-brewery-chicago-20141212-story.html

In part: "We always made good beer, but we realized we had to make great beer," said Ben Finch, founder of the brewery. "We had to up our game. And in a funny way, Chicago is just learning about that. But that's OK. That's part of phase two."

Oh, really? My limp-wristed support for the endeavor might as well be revoked. **** Finch's. Bunch of *****.

I have heard that this spot is an old Finkl's space and will be near North/Clybourn -- because that intersection needs something else to promote traffic.

Maybe the CCBE will latch onto whatever crap comes out Finch's and leave the other breweries alone. Fingers crossed!

So they used to make good beer but now they'll be making great beer on top of a ****** toxic waste dump one block from goose.

"Rife with heavy-metal contamination, the site will require environmental cleanup. “There are different levels of cleanup based on what your future land use is going to be,” says Peter Skosey, executive vice president of the Metropolitan Planning Council in Chicago. While no publicly available soil tests have been conducted, less than a decade ago Finkl was the city's biggest polluter, pumping enough chromium, lead, manganese, nickel and zinc into the air to claim nearly a third of the city's total health risk from factory emissions, according to a 2008 investigationby the Chicago Tribune."

As long as they stay away from Michelle's apple juice factory when I chose to go there... and flood it at all other times making her and her partners really epic money i'm fine with it.

Speaking of, has anyone heard anything regarding what the extra benefit is for renewing early at the last event?

Nothing yet, but I'm sure we'll find out in the next email update once everyone is signed up for this round and Chris has a better idea of what he's working with. I don't expect it to be anything more than a free bottle or possibly some special swag like a hoodie or something.

Anyone know if Stille Nacht ever hit the area this year? Am I an idiot for even looking for it? Or even asking about it?
