Interesting. It was only $30 last time FFF sold bottles of that **** beer.

Wow! I wish I had a grand to spend on Beer let alone on Pappy. Very much want to try someday, but strictly a beer guy and I feel like spending $100+ on a bottle is kind of wasting it if that makes sense? Like a Busch Light drinker buying Loons.

For context, this haul was well under a grand, and if I go back for a 23 year I'll still be under. That said, I completely understand your point, and that's basically the reason I don't trade for a whole lot of sours/wilds ... they're kind of lost on me at this point.

Happy to share a taste sometime and/or point you to a spot in town serving it up at a reasonable price (now is the time of year for that -- Longman & Eagle and Publican are two spots that I would think would have plenty right now). I think the 20 year I had at Publican last year was around $24-26 for a good pour. If they don't have it now they should have it soon. The Aviary also has the whole set pretty much year round.

I'm sure there are lots of places that do nice whiskey flights, but the food at Chicago Q is tits, and price to quality doubt you can find much better in the city from a food standpoint, which frees up some extra money for tasting whiskey.

Hard to beat Big Star, too (though the crowds are even more obnoxious than at L&E if you go at the wrong time). Plus, they have a ton of house-selected barrels which are usually always fun to try.

The Side Project/Off Color/Flat 12 event at Northdown last night was an incredible time. Side Project definitely lives up to the billing, the Off Color beers were a great change of pace, and that Flat 12 Pinko nightcap was perfect. How was the Local Option event?
