I stopped in Kenwood Liquors in Homer Glen earlier today and they had Maine Brewing Co. Mo, King Titus, and Red Wheelbarrow on the shelf. I know some people were wondering about MBC in Illinois, so I guess it's here.

Depending on allotments of the 2013 variants that is. He said if Coconut was like Cherry (1 case) than it will go into the raffle.
If I had the time I would maybe do this, but standing in line for 3 hours and not drinking sounds terrible to me. I was able to get 5 Cherries last year, and thinking there will be more Coconut (Chciago only, small yield on the cherry last year), I'm not to worried about landing a few Coconuts around town. But, ****'s crazier each year so who knows.

My friends have been telling me that I'm becoming more grumpy and cynical about this game we play as time goes on, and perhaps they are right. Fact is, I'm sick of hustling to find maybe one or two bottles of what I'm after. I only have one store that takes care of me, but if they don't see any BCBS 22's I'll be SOL.

If what lurchingbeast was told is true - and he's one of the few people I actually trust with these kinds of things - then getting Proprietor's and Backyard will be a slam dunk at Black Friday.

It is my belief that Proprietors will be a bitch to get.

Mostly because the fun has been sucked out of beer **** in Chicago. The first year I went to FOBAB, I randomly happened upon the event a week before and bought tickets then. This year, sold out in a minute or two. First year coffee and vanilla were released, I bought 8 bottles of vanilla and saw coffee sit on the shelves for near a month. Now, I am lucky to happen upon a coffee in that 28 stores I visit. I've altered my approach to beer and it's been rewarding. Buy lambic from overseas, join membership programs, drink mead & lagers, and go to random releases in the midwest that interest me. This hobby isnt nearly as fun as it use to be, but I still enjoy getting rip roaring drunk.

This is why I mostly drink cheap bourbon these days.

Hell, even when Revolution releases a new barrel-aged beer -- releases which have, so far, been as smooth as possible and include free food -- all I do is complain since I'm on permanent curmudgeon mode.

Oh, speaking of FoBAB -- not sure if people saw it but the Goose brewpub is opening at 10am that day so people can get bottles of Brettanomite and still hit up the first session.

Confirmed via my MBA email:
Akin to last year, this year's event will feature a ticketed Black Friday package where a Goose Island brewer will lead you through a tasting of these barrel-aged beers:

Bourbon County Brand Stout '13
Bourbon County Brand Coffee Stout '13
Bourbon County Brand Barleywine '13
Templeton Rye Bourbon County Brand Stout '13
Backyard Rye Bourbon County Brand Stout (Templeton Rye BCBS with mulberries, boysenberries, marionberries) '13
Proprietor's Bourbon County Brand Stout (Templeton Rye BCBS with toasted coconut) '13

Plus, attendees will take home a 2009 bomber of Bourbon County Brand Stout and a new edition of our Bourbon County Brand Stout snifter.

Yeah, I'll pass. If it were just me I'd think twice, but with the girlfriend that makes in $150. That buys a lot of BCBS. Or BB Plead the 5th.

I am not...Although I probably could have been by now. I've just neve signed up.

Srsly, just do it. I finished mine 4-5mo ago. Still waiting to use the perk. Didn't buy Belgianfest tix and I'm not going to this event. I guess there's always stoutfest.

There's also a party once a year for MBA's. Way back in the day, you got the 20oz. glass instead of 16oz. -- this was sufficiently way back that they still served pretty much everything in shaker or nonic pints.

And the t-shirt! Can anyone really put a price on that t-shirt?

Speaking of breweries that only sell $10+ bombers, looks like these are hitting local shelves from Against the Grain: Bo & Luke, We Brett it Wrong, Chris Framboise, & De Struise collab Scorched Monk.

Well, these already hit and disappeared from the LP Binnys -- but if you really want them, try the Grand Ave. store.

Not a lot of info on any of these: We Brett it Wrong, Chris Framboise, & De Struise collab Scorched Monk.
