I like the variants this year. I only bought the Double Barrel they let Black Friday attendees purchase at Clybourn though. The event is stupid expensive but I like being able to try the variants on one day in that setting and being (mostly) done with them. I don't buy beer anymore anyways.

Except when I bought $100 worth of beer to-go at Off Color later on Black Friday.

Was there any cool glassware this year?

Stupid, stupid good. Black and White is the new Black and the Hemingway cocktail beer are also great. The new batches of Market Rate and House Lion are even better than the first.

I tried about 8 beers there on Black Friday and loved everything. I'm a shameless mark.

Predator Noir is my jam, I rarely buy bottles anymore and I killed 4 of them at the house. John is on a roll right now...

For anyone looking to skip the line for the 2020-21 Deep Wood series, start planning your purchases now. It would be great if the online portal could give this kind of detail - and asking about balances in the taproom or brewpub just shows you lifetime rewards.

Via Rev’s latest newsletter:

We'll be continuing our Skip the Line for Rev Rewards members during the upcoming 2020-2021 Deep Wood Series season. Starting in February 2020 (after the January 24 release of Ten Year Beer and Cuvée de Grace), your balance will be based off of purchases from 2019 forward. Points from 2018 will not be counted toward Skip the Line status.

I thought Half Acre's food menu was pretty good as it was. Although Balmoral rarely ever felt like it had the same crowd as Lincoln. This will fill the place with regularity I'd bet.

My wife didn’t like the food and hated going so far north, when I sent her the article about this and told her she’d like going to Balmoral now. She replied, “Yes, yes, I will.”

The Whole Foods near Mousetrap has BCS Regular, 2018 Regular, Wheatwine, Reserve Rye, Mon Cheri and Cafe De Olla on tap. $1/oz in 4 or 8oz options. Not too bad if, like me, you made zero effort to pick up bottles but still want to know what they taste like.

Damn, they still have the full line up? I saw that when I went shopping last Tuesday, I’m a bit surprised, but also not judging from how much I’ve seen of most the variants available in bottles all over the city.

4oz was more than enough for the Cafe and Mon Cheri. I was pretty happy with the Reserve Rye, though. Trying Prop would have been. Ice, too, just to round things out. Oh well.

I did see bottles of Noel from a previous season at Kenwood Liquors in Oak Lawn tho

Those Noel bottles looked pretty dusty when I saw them a couple weeks ago. I took a pass then, but may pop in and grab one for science. (I work across the street) (( PS Send them more Drie))

Tell them to order it. For srs.

A different Kenwood ordered DF and it ended up getting shipped to the Oak Lawn one. So they took it, and i went down to be all apologetic and the guy was like "Hell of a way to get into an account" but they kept it and were very excited to have it. I left a card because they wouldn't give me the buyer's email and haven't heard anything since.
