I'm assuming the 'STAND' room only contains urinals. One must wonder what the punishment would be for standing in the sitting room.

Seems pretty unfair to women. Dudes will be peeing all over those seats when the stand room has a line.

If you stand when you’re supposed to sit, you’re gonna have a bad time.

On a related note, Mrs Bob Cobb will sometimes comment that a particular women’s restroom is disgusting. I must have asked her this, but I still don’t understand...

...where else could it go...?

Maybe women’s disgusting isn’t the same as men’s disgusting.

My understanding is that women tend to hover over the seat and that has unintended consequences.

EDIT: I look forward to hearing exclusively from dudes about this topic.

So from my days of drinking way too many imperial pints of cask Two Hearted at Clark St. Ale House, I found myself often using the women's room there. If the line for the men's was too long, I'd scope it out for a few minutes. If no one was going in or out, I'd knock. No answer and I'd walk in.

In retrospect this is a creepy thing to do. But it did give me the idea that the person going in to the bathroom should be able to determine what gender it is. So my suggestion is to have a sign that the user can change as they enter. Identify as a dude? Put up the dude sign. Identify as a woman? Pick that one.

No, one of my jobs at the Jewels when I was in high school was to clean the bathrooms and the women's was always grosser. I think the hovering-over-the-seat is probably the biggest reason, but I also never had to clean poop off a wall in men's room but I definitely had to do that a couple times in the women's...

Ended up sharing x2 bottles of Vanilla Rye, x1 Cherry Rye, x1 Backyard Rye with a few folks

And after eating / drining far too much I met up with some friends in Stickney at a dive bar off Pershing drinking $2 Modelos on draft and playing 8ball with folks

Vanilla Rye > Backyard Rye > Cherry Rye based on my opinion this evening, and $2 - 12oz Modelo on a relatively clean draft line might acually be heaven...

As someone who has spent time in both mens and ladies rooms, we are all horrible when someone else is cleaning.

My 3 year old is currently testing the durability of the fencing around the foedres at middlebrow while I sip this milk eyed mender. Definitely finding some vulnerability there, but overall not bad. I lost track of which variations are which and stopped caring but this stout is a thing of beauty.
its safe to say that fence is temporary to satisfy one person to get a signature. thanks for stoppin in, i hope you dug that papas bravas pie. bias BS aside & I'm not sure its even a pizza (did you try with the egg?) but I've eaten about 2 dozen of those thus far and plan to eat another 2 dozen of em this month.

No wonder you ran outta pizza by 6:30pm on Saturday, you ate it all you selfish bastard...

the one time i went in (granted it was a wednesday night) it was empty as ****. given how enormous the space was, i'm not all that surprised to see them closing given that one experience.

speaking of which, i wonder how jolly pumpkin hyde park is doing. been meaning to make my way down there.

As most of you know, Maple Tree Inn burned down back in the late summer/early fall. They opened Maple Tree Bistro a few blocks away a couple months back and I was finally able to make it out this past weekend. The place is about 1/3 the size of the Inn so I can see why it was so hard to get a reservation on the weekends the first month. The menu has been severely cut down but some of the staples are still there.

(sorry the picture is so dark, it was 'romantically' lit and my phone sucks in low light)

The great Emily is still crafting cocktails behind the bar. I had the special called the Spicy Bee: Bombay Sapphire Gin, Lemon, and a Chili de Arbol Infused Honey Syrup, and the Vieux Carre: Dickel rye whiskey, Park VS cognac, Benedictine, Yzaguirre rojo vermouth, Peychaud's & Angostura bitters. Vieux Carre was phenomenal.

We split an unreal fried crab cake, the pickled mustard greens giving it a real kick. I had the blacked redfish etouffee, which was as good as I remember but the portion seemed smaller. Girl had the hickory buttered BBQ shrimp and it was a MASSIVE entree. Pecan pie was the special and since it was a staple at the old place and the best pecan pie I've ever had, I went with it.

Felt good being there.

im not much a fan of juice/haze but hot damn, i thought this might be one of my fav's in this fair city or midbest.
