I'm going to go against the tide here. Bravo ******* Revolution. You listened to your real fans and have delivered an exceptional weekend for your patrons. How spoiled are we that people are complaining about waiting in a line at Rev for once? Ya, there were some relatively long lines tonight, but thank god there is a brewery here (of that size) that listens and cares about its customers. I will gladly battle lines to support a company like that. Doug, thank you and your team for putting on events like these, you have truly spoiled Chicago beer nerds.

::falls asleep on floor::
Yeah, the other option is drive around all afternoon hoping to snag 1 can pp from multiple stores. I would much rather wait in one line at one big event than the thinly distributed model.

P.S. Anyone buy too much and looking to offload?

I loved the VSOJs as expected. I had a Whistlepig DB VSOD and enjoyed it. The Woodford I only had a few sips of. Way too much wood there for my taste. I grabbed a 4 pack of the DB VSODs but hoping that Woodford is greatly minimized in the blend.

Another great time at Revolution. The line/wait that killed me was at Honey Butter... 15 min line to order, 30+ minutes for a table, then another 30 to have the chicken in front of me. They may have inadvertently been DDB’d.

Mineshaft Gap was a big disappointment. Nothing like the well balanced and silky smooth beer it was a few years ago. It was harsh and really thin. Only beer of the night where if you held it up to the light you could see right through it.
Noooooooooooooo!

I know we’re only a few weeks into 2018, but pretty sure this is the biggest disappointment of 2018.

Well barleywine is life apparently. I’m pretty excited I waited until after I got drunk to get in line. Cough Roger85

The only thing that sucked yesterday is that I waited 90 mins in line, then spent $300+ on cans and then couldn’t get into the tap room after I took them to the car unless I waited in another line. Can’t blame Rev for the crowd though.

Switch the level of preparedness for the events next year and they're golden. For Deth's Tar and Ryeway releases (esp DT) they were so overprepared. I got there at the same time for each one (630-700) and it was night and day on the crowds. Not sure what can be done on their part for this, though.

Only thing I had on tap was a pour of VSOJ. At the risk of inciting an even bigger mob next year, release THAT in cans if you can. Fantastic and probably not as hypewalez as the variants would be.

I believe they said VSOJ would be in cans in October at the life after deth event, but I may have heard the month wrong. Either way it will be getting packaged fairly soon

Don't be obtuse, the post is pretty straight forward

Tried that, didn't work. Then again it was Wisconsin and not Lower Uncton.

edit: Related, Jester King's Commercial Suicide is fantastic and by all rights shouldn't be.
Not geographic...but wouldn’t illinois really be upper uncton when you think about it.

It’d be great if a brewery could make decent money and large sales by doing something other than ****** ipa’s and stouts.

I'd like to see milds have their day in the sun
Yes. Rev's Workingman Mild is one of my all-time local faves. I took a growler of it to a house party a couple years ago, ended up drinking the whole thing myself. No shame in my game.

This was well after I had gotten out of line, and went into the tap room at 4 like everyone should have to begin with.
I know. I was attempting to reply to your **** talking with my own **** talking, but I was drunk and pre-diabetic from too much stout and barleywine and was struggling to string words together in a coherent order. Instead of posting to TB, I should've called Wilford Brimley to inquire about diabetes test strips.

Also I went in blew up the bathroom then left. RedCoffee listened to people talk about technology or something.

It was one of my favorite beers back in the day when the brewpub opened. Workingman on cask was stupid good.
