I just bottled a Session IPA I made, I used 5.5 pounds of malt extract. I had a OG of 1.04 and pitched Safe Ale 05. I left it in primary for 18 days then went straight to bottle. Is it normal for the gravity to fall that low? It tastes great as I sampled it, I enjoy a dry beer. It's just way lower than I was expecting to get.
FG was at 1.004

What is the FG?

It's a bit low... but not terribly considering the OG. What temp did you ferment at?

Sounds like a nice dry crisp easy drinkin beer. Perfect for the coming warmer weather. You might want to check the hydrometer for accuracy in tap water at its calibration temperature to see what it reads. Should be very close to 1.000

Distilled would be better but not a must. There might be a measurement error in play here.

It was ambient temp, the carboy had a towel wrapped around it also.
I did taste it and I thought it tasted great. Used Simcoe and Amarillo hops and they really came though.
