I made a stout, and after 24 hours I have really vigorous airlock activity, but no krauzen at all....

Is this normal?

I used S-04 dry yeast, sprinkled it directly into the cooled wort....

THe only time I have ever seen that was with cider. It fermented out fine. I'm not very experienced with cider though so maybe that's just how it works.

It's only been 24 hours....more than likely you are off gassing o2, and maybe a small amount of co2, but your krausen will be along sometime. Remember, airlock activity really means very little.
