I just red an article about primary fermenting in a five gal cornelius keg, I only make 2.75 or 3 gal. batches so this sounds perfect for me and just transfer to my 3 gal kegs when done via a jumper and co2, No racking, no contact with 02. so who else does this? Is this a good way to go? TIA
 
Lots of threads on this. I ferment 4.5-4.75 gallon batches, typically lagers, in 5 gallon kegs and transfer with a jumper hose to the serving keg. I love it. Uses more co2, sure, but it's pretty stress free, and that's more important than using a little co2 I think. Plus it's easier to take gravity readings.
One thing you might consider is bending the dip tube in your keg fermenter so it sits a couple inches off the bottom. This will help not pulling hops and yeast out, especially if you want to harvest yeast.
For an airlock, clamp a piece of hose to a gas out disconnect ran into a jar of sanitizer. Works perfectly.
 
I am running a 2 gallon cider batch in a 3 gallon corny as of last night, and it is my first attempt at pressurized fermentation. It is interesting to hear you say that it uses more gas. As long as your serving keg has been purged then you can still transfer using gravity between kegs. Connect beer out to beer out and then gas to gas and the beer will flow to the lower keg. Purging the keg could be done with the "blow off" from your fermentation.
