Is there a risk of contamination if my primary fermenter foam comes through my airlock-- the foam is pretty high, just wondering if I should add a blowoff tube-- never had to before. I am 48 hrs into fermentation already.

No risk of contamination, however it can make a pretty big mess. Due to the messes I have had to clean up I almost always use a blow off for at least the first week of fermentation now days. If you feel like it may blow out, add a blow off tube, it can't hurt anything.
