I used mine for two years, until I got new ones as a gift. The old ones are now used for grain storage. I suppose they will last as long as you keep them clean and free of scratches.

True. I've been using my Cooper's Micro Brew Fv since 2011. My ale pail got messed up, so it was replaced. Baring scratches & other serious problems, they'll last for years.

I've got 8 years on my original bucket, about 6 on the second one, about 5 on the third and 2 years on the other 2 buckets. As long as you don't use a harsh scrubber or gouge them somehow they can last a long time.

I look for any kind of scratches. The first bucket I ever bought, when I knew nothing, didn't last too long because of scratches. I bought several more and have been very careful so they should last years and years. The lids for me usually go faster than the buckets because I get splits in the lips.

If you have a Walmart or something similar nearby, check there for lids. The white ones for their 5 gallon buckets fit my 6.5 gallon fermenter buckets too. You will need to make a hole for the airlock.
