I consider beer or any beer related product perfume. But I have a REALLY sensitive room mate when it comes to odors. Will a fermenting bucket put off an a strong enough scent to make her piss and moan? Or do I need to find a new venue to keep my stuff?

During fermentation, there will be some odors released from the fermenter. The odors will vary depending on many factors. Some of mine have smelled like noxious waste, while others have smelled simply like beer. The good news is that the odors typically don't linger far. I keep mine in a spare room. I cannot smell it at all outside the room and only smell it in the room during the first few days of fermentation.

Usually I think the smells are minor except for apfelwein you will want to do that elsewhere.

The oders from brewing are far more pronounced and linger a lot longer in imho than fermentation

The most smelly fermenation I've had other than rhino fart apfelwein was an omegang Belgium clone and it smelle like bananas and fruit something I thought smelled nice.
