Added Fermcap S to my 6 gal better bottle last night to control foaming during oxygenation with an air pump. Probably second guessing myself, but I may have added 16-17 drops instead of 11-12 (suspicious I doubled one dropper accidentally).

Given the FDA guidance on this stuff, would you:
1) Take this as an opportunity to justify buying an inline beer filter?
2) RDWHAHB
3) Dump the batch, because there might be too much in there anyhow
4) Let it ride, lager it, fine it with gelatin maybe, but otherwise same as #2

Thanks for your input!

RDWHAHB. Once fermentation is done cold crash around 40F for a few days, rack from above the sediment, and then bottle/keg. You'll have clear beer in no time, no need for gelatin.

I always just add about 4 drops to a 12 gallon batch, it's enough to keep the foam down during the boil and tamper it in the fermenter for most strains. I figure the least amount is best, but that stuff does work great.

Bears. Beets. BattleStar Galactica.

I vote #4.

While I wouldn't make a habit of putting more than the recommended amount of Fermcap in there, I hardly think once is going to harm you, especially considering that, if you're careful, I think you can leave most of it in the fermenter.

Disclaimer: I am neither a chemist nor a doctor, nor did I stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.

Thanks brewers...I feel better now! Will let you know how this turns out (sometime in May). It's a Prima Pils-inspired hoppy Pilsner, somewhere between a German and a Czech pilsner. In addition to the cold crashing, it will get a nice, long, lagering period, so that is comforting too.
