I have been homebrewing for a while now and im real big on the craft beer movement, ive brewed alot of styles so far and me and my brother n law had a discussion the other night about what we should brew together next week. Call me crazy, Call me insane, but we decided that as far out as it is we are going to try a chocolate chip cookie stout. So far ive come up with using the base recipe of a sweet stout because it calls for some kind of a milk dextrine which seems like it would go well with chocolate cookies. No chocolate chips will be used, i may use some cocoa extract or powder but havent decided yet, In stone im using vanilla bean, White and brown sugars for boiling and molasses for priming. As far as grains go im focusing on wheat and oats. Any feedback on the idea is appreciated, good or bad. Let me know. Thanks alot.

Im new to the site so allow me to introduce myself. Name is Justin Quecke, I live in northern california, Love beer of all styles, tastes, shapes and sizes. Looking to farther expand my knowledge and meet friends experienced in homebrewing. Looking forward to hearing from all.

HAPPY BREWING!

Sounds like an interesting idea, but I'd prime with anything but molasses. Add the molasses to the boil for flavor and prime as usual. Molasses for priming will be very unpredictable.

Some other things to consider:

-Cinnamon stick or two at flameout
-Maybe .5-1lb of Briess special roast, or something like that
-oven toast some (or all) of your oats a week ahead of time, just until they smell toasty
-small amount of dark crystal (120L+) for a slight raisiny flavor, unless you think it would clash with the chocolate

Thanks much for replying, i thought about using cinammon sticks but forgot about it so thanks for the reminder. Always toast my oats, have to. and Dark Crystal sounds like a great addition, ill talk it over with my brother n law and figure it out. Ill be brewing on monday so as soon as im done with it ill post on here with how it came out. Thanks again.

Hate to possibly throw your apparent run on thought prob in high gear but how about oatmeal raisen stout haha now thats a heavenly combination
