Mirrors on the ceiling, pink champagne on ice
And she said, "we are all just prisoners here, of our own device."
And in the masters chamber, they gathered for the feast
They stabbed it with their steely knives but they just can't kill the beast
Last thing I remember, I was running for the door
Had to find the passage back to the plce I was before
"Relax", said the nightman, "we are programmed ro recieve. You can check out anytime you like, but you can never leave."

Won't you spare me over til another year
Well what is this that I can't see
With ice cold hands takin' hold of me
Well I am death, none can excel
I'll open the door to heaven or hell
Whoa, death someone would pray
Could you wait to call me another day

"It doesn't matter what I say
So long as I sing with inflection
That makes you feel that I'll convey
Some inner truth of vast reflection
But I've said nothing so far
And I can keep it up for as long as it takes
And it don't matter who you are
If I'm doing my job then it's your resolve that breaks"

Another one Bites the Dust

Ooh, let's go
Steve walks warily down the street
With the brim pulled way down low
Ain't no sound but the sound of his feet
Machine guns ready to go

Are you ready, hey, are you ready for this
Are you hangin' on the edge of your seat
Out of the doorway the bullets rip
To the sound of the beat - yeah

Another one bites the dust
Another one bites the dust
And another one gone and another one gone
Another one bites the dust, eh
Hey, I'm gonna get you too
Another one bites the dust

How do you think I'm going to get along
Without you when you're gone
You took me for everything that I had
And kicked me out on my own

Are you happy ? Are you satisfied ?
How long can you stand the heat
Out of the doorway the bullets rip
To the sound of the beat
Look out

Another one bites the dust
Another one bites the dust
And another one gone and another one gone
Another one bites the dust, eh
Hey, I'm gonna get you too
Another one bites the dust

Hey
Oh take it
Bites the dust - bite the dust hey
Hey
Another one bites the dust
Another one bites the dust, ow
Another one bites the dust, hey hey
Another one bites the dust, heeey
Ooh show down

There are plenty of ways that you can hurt a man
And bring him to the ground
You can beat him
You can cheat him
You can treat him bad and leave him
When he's down, yeah
But I'm ready, yes I'm ready for you
I'm standing on my own two feet
Out of the doorway the bullets rip
Repeating to the sound of the beat
Oh yeah

Another one bites the dust
Another one bites the dust
And another one gone and another one gone
Another one bites the dust, yeah
Hey, I'm gonna get you too
Another one bites the dust
Shoot out
Hey, alright

There's nobody here, there's nobody near
I try not to care, dead eyes always stare
Let these matters be, don't trust what you see
Take hold of your time, step into the line

There's innocence torn from its maker
And stillborn, the trust in you
This failure has made the creator
So would you tell him what to do

Leave your mark upon the head of someone
Who'll cry for his state, we know it's too late
I turn round to see what was meant to be
Faint movement release to rid the disease

There's innocence torn from its maker
And stillborn, the trust in you
(I have lost all trust I had in you)
This failure has made the creator
So would you tell him what to do
(I have lost all trust I had in you)

To Rid the Disease - Opeth

One lyric that I have always gotten a kick out of is from the song Who The F--- Are Arctic Monkeys:

And there's a couple of hundred
Think they're Christopher Columbus
But the settlers had already settled
Yeah, long before ya

The whole song is awesome considering how popular they have become in the 6 years since they released it.

phish did it better....:cross:

actually, wasn't aware it was a cover...they've been playing it so long, i thought it was theirs!

Not knocking Phish, they're one of my all time faves, and they do a killer version of Loving Cup. Seen many a live version, and it gets the crowd going like few other's in their repertoire can, but the Stones have been "doing" a version of that song since the members of Phish were small children. Phish may do the song better in your opinion, as in mine, but it's a Rolling Stones song.

Right now listening to an old version of Marley's "Soul Shakedown Party", cuz that's how I'm gonna feel in a few minutes after this here pepperoni and anchovy 'za comes out of the oven. 'Nother good tune that Phish covers, and they do a stellar version, but nothing like the way good ol' Bob can make ya feel.

I saw a dead fish on the pavement I thought "well what do you expect? There's no water round here, stupid, should have stayed where it was wet" ~Scroobius Pip

A little Indian brave who before he was ten,
Played war games in the woods with his Indian friends
And he built up a dream that when he grew up
He would be a fearless warrior Indian Chief
Many moons past and more the dream grew strong until
Tomorrow he would sing his first war song and fight his first battle
But something went wrong, surprise attack killed him in his sleep that night

And so castles made of sand melt into the sea, eventually

There was a young girl, who's heart was a frown
cause she was crippled for life,
And she couldn't speak a sound
And she wished and prayed she could stop living,
So she decided to die
She drew her wheelchair to the edge of the shore
And to her legs she smiled you wont hurt me no more
But then a sight she'd never seen made her jump and say
Look a golden winged ship is passing my way

And it really didn't have to stop, it just kept on going...

"The doctor says I'm livin'
on precious borrowed time
with all the time I'm givin'
to liquor beer and wine

the xrays of my liver
look like molded old swiss cheese
my heart pumps blood and alcohol
through hardened arteries

everybody knows me
down at the local bar
i drink until i can't see
and i wonder where you are

i guess i let my health go
since you quit bein' mine
but there's nothing to replace you
'cept liquor beer and wine

liquor beer and wine
is a flashing sign i see
every single morning i get up
it's a buzzing down at me

i look up to the heavens for
a ray of hope to shine
and there it is in neon
liquor beer and wine

ever since you left me
i've lived out of my car
parked between the liquor store
and uncle bubba's bar

booze helps ease the heartache
but you're constantly in mind
as constant as that buzzing noise
of uncle bubba's sign

liquor beer and wine
is a flashing sign i see
every dern morning i get up
it's a buzzing down at me

i look up to the heavens for
a ray of hope to shine
and there it is in neon
liquor beer and wine "

As I embark on life's journey from the point where I'm at
Peace to everybody striving to live right and exact
Even though anxieties try to pull you down
See your troubles as a blessing and you're homeward bound
Everybody's gotta struggle, that's the way of the world
Can't develop biceps if you don't do curls
Can't achieve a a garden if you never water your crops
If you never paid your dues, then you don't get props
Couldn't eat a proper meal without cooking it first
Can't receive a paycheck if you don't do work
If it wasn't for the rain, then the trees won't grow
When the spring came around, what a sight to bestow
When you face adversities, dark clouds won't last
If you never study, how do you expect to pass?

Blackalicious, Making Progress

I wish you could have been a fly on the wall
When I was 12 years old
Crying over my homework.
I would have slit my wrist if it wasn't for
Rock and roll.

Murder City Devils, Lemuria Rising

One more....a classic:

Well I was workin' on my farm, 'bout 1982
Pullin' up some corn, and a little carrot too
When two low flying airplanes, 'bout a hundred feet high
Dropped a buncha bales of something, 'bout hit me in the eye

So I cut a bale open, and man was I surprised
A buncha large sized baggies, with big white rocks inside
So I took a little sample, and my crazy brother Joe
Sniffed it up and kicked his heels, said, "Horton, that's some blow!"

Bales of cocaine, fallin' from low flying planes
I don't know who done dropped 'em, but I thank 'em just the same
Bales of cocaine, fallin' like the pouring rain
My life changed completely by those low flying planes

I loaded up them bales in my pick 'em up truck
Headed west for Dallas, where I would try my luck
I didn't have a notion if I could sell 'em there
Thirty minutes later, I was a millionaire.

Bales of cocaine, fallin' from low flying planes
I don't know who done dropped 'em, but I thank 'em just the same
Bales of cocaine, fallin' like the pouring rain
My life changed completely by those low flying planes

Now I am a rich man, but I'm still a farmer too
I sold my farm in Texas, bought a farm down in Peru
And when I get so homesick, I think I'm goin' insane
I travel back to Texas in a low flying plane.

I'm going I'm going where the water tastes like wine
I'm going where the water tastes like wine

"I've held it all inward, God knows, I've tried,
But it's an awful awakening in a country boy's life,
To look in the mirror in total surprise.
At the hair on my shoulders and the age in my eyes.

Amanda, light of my life.
Fate should have made you a gentleman's wife.
Amanda, light of my life.
Fate should have made you a gentleman's wife..."

Waylon Jennings

I know I'm the one who did the wrong, the days are hard and the night is long
I'm trying to find my way back home
Standing outside in the pouring rain, feeling so cold and alone again
I need to know if Your still by my side
I want to feel Your embrace again, You're the only one I can call my Friend
I'm coming home, back to where we began, the road is long but I can get back again.
Divided we fall but together we stand. I'm coming home.

you say the magic's gone, well i'm not a magician
you say the spark is gone, well get an electrician
and save your line
about needing to be free
'cause that's all bullsh*t babe
you just want rid of me

- "better things", by massive attack

A couple of the sounds that I really like
Are the sounds of a switchblade and a motorbike
I'm a juvenile product of the workin' class
Whose best friend floats in the bottom of a glass
