Never been dumped/cause I'm the most mackinest
Never been jumped/cause I'm known the most packinest.

No beating the Beastie Boys

Bye, bye Miss American Pie
Drove my Chevy to the levee but the levee was dry
Them good ole boys were drinking whiskey in Rye
Singin' this'll be the day that I die
This'll be the day that I die

Did you write the book of love
And do you have faith in God above
If the Bible tells you so?
Now do you believe in rock and roll?
Can music save your mortal soul?
And can you teach me how to dance real slow?

a few lyrics from Don Mclean

Whisky, gin, and brandy
With a glass I'm pretty handy
I'm trying to walk a straight line
On sour mash and cheap wine
So join me for a drink boys
We're gonna make a big noise
So don't worry about tomorrow, we'll take it today
Forget about the check, we'll get hell to pay
Have a drink on me

because this big old river
will kill us in time
'till then we'll drink it's weight
in cheap beer and wine
we can drink just as fast
as the river is strong
and we'll drink 'till we're gone

Day or so had passed when I popped the clutch,
gave the tranny a spin and slid on into
The Stinky Pinky Gulp N' Guzzle Big Rig Snooze-A-Stop.
There I was browsin' through the latest issue of "Throb",
when I saw Bambi starin' at me from the back of a milk carton.
Well, my heart just dropped.
So, I decided to do what any good Christian would.
You can not imagine how difficult it is to hold a half gallon of moo juice
and polish the one-eyed gopher when your doin' seventy-five
in an eighteen-wheeler.

“Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We'll wander back and home to bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!”

- J.R.R. Tolkien, The Fellowship of the Ring

We've taken care of everything, the words you hear the songs you sing
The pictures that give pleasure to your eyes
It's one for all and all for one, we work together commons sons
Never need to wonder how or why
We are the priests of the Temple of Syrinx, our great computers fill our hallowed halls
We are the priests of the Temple of Syrinx, all the gifts of life are held within our walls

she was married when we first met, soon to be divorced. helped her out of a jam i guess, but i used a little to much force... and every one of those words rang true and glowed like burning coals, falling off of every page like it was writen in my soul from me to you. tangled up in blue

"Oh well, whatever, never mind..."

A little Nirvana - nice. Brought to mind another of my favorite quotes.
"I'm not ready as I'll ever be
I climb the walls, I fall into the sea
I'm not ready as I'll ever be
And I suppose your guess is more or less as bad as mine
All over but the shouting, just a waste of time
Never mind
All over but the shouting, just a waste of time
And I suppose your guess is more or less as bad as mine"
- The Replacements "Nevermind"

My child arrived just the other day
He came to the world in the usual way
But there were planes to catch and bills to pay
He learned to walk while I was away
And he was talkin' 'fore I knew it, and as he grew
He'd say "I'm gonna be like you dad
You know I'm gonna be like you"

And the cat's in the cradle and the silver spoon
Little boy blue and the man on the moon
When you comin' home dad?
I don't know when, but we'll get together then son
You know we'll have a good time then

My son turned ten just the other day
He said, "Thanks for the ball, Dad, come on let's play
Can you teach me to throw", I said "Not today
I got a lot to do", he said, "That's ok"
And he walked away but his smile never dimmed
And said, "I'm gonna be like him, yeah
You know I'm gonna be like him"

And the cat's in the cradle and the silver spoon
Little boy blue and the man on the moon
When you comin' home son?
I don't know when, but we'll get together then son
You know we'll have a good time then

Well, he came home from college just the other day
So much like a man I just had to say
"Son, I'm proud of you, can you sit for a while?"
He shook his head and said with a smile
"What I'd really like, Dad, is to borrow the car keys
See you later, can I have them please?"

And the cat's in the cradle and the silver spoon
Little boy blue and the man on the moon
When you comin' home son?
I don't know when, but we'll get together then son
You know we'll have a good time then

I've long since retired, my son's moved away
I called him up just the other day
I said, "I'd like to see you if you don't mind"
He said, "I'd love to, Dad, if I can find the time
You see my new job's a hassle and kids have the flu
But it's sure nice talking to you, Dad
It's been sure nice talking to you"

And as I hung up the phone it occurred to me
He'd grown up just like me
My boy was just like me

And the cat's in the cradle and the silver spoon
Little boy blue and the man on the moon
When you comin' home son?
I don't know when, but we'll get together then son
You know we'll have a good time then

Harry Chapin

Song is just too good to pick it apart! Makes me cry every time I hear it. This song really hits home for me, Not just form the perspective of being the son, but as the Dad as well.

Really makes me think of my kids. Good one.

"Hold the heathen hammer high with a battle cry
For the pagan past I live and one day will die
Hold the heathen hammer high, never turn away
Ever true unto your forefathers stalwart stay
Hold the Heathen Hammer high with a battle cry
For the pagan past I live and one day will die
Hold the heathen hammer high, never turn away
Down the wayward way so far faring strangers stray"

---- Tyr - Hold the Heathen Hammer High

"There's a fire in his eye
As he holds his hungry sword into the sky
We ride for the battle, my brothers by my side
We fight, we were still standing by the morning light
They died, well at least those who didn't run to hide
We ride for the borough where mead and wenches bide"

---- Tyr - Ride

I still remember the sound of your voice calling out my name
And I still remember my face examining itself, knowing things would never be the same
I still remember your smiling face across a crowded room
And I still remember, through the weathering of time, that first embrace that sealed our doom

Your eyes stare at me, from every storefront
And your voice calls to me from every restaurant
And your laughter pierces me as I stand beneath the open sky
And your absence murders me as I sleep perchance to die

Seems like to escape is what I ought to do
But every road I take brings me back to you

I am frozen in the moment
clinging to your memory
and I don't
Want the ignorance that a spotless mind would bring
but I'm
Scared my dying breath may be your name

It's just like I sang to you - everyone knows that we live in a world
Where people give bad names to beautiful things
And if it's really true that people should leave once they've
Got what they came for, I certainly hope that you're holding it close to you now

I still remember the sunlight on your face that warm November day
And I still remember, my heartbeat quickened by desire, unaware of prices I would pay
I still remember the closing door the night we said goodbye, and I still
Remember losing you for good and knowing that a part of me had died
And I still pray that things will be alright
and I pray you'll think of me tonight
And I know somehow I'll be alright and I hope that you're the same…

but I'm Scared my dying breath may be your name.

Johnny died one night, died in his bed
Bottle of whiskey, sleepin' tablets buy his head
Johnny's life passed him by like a warm summer day
If you listen to the wind, you can still hear him play
Don't you know that you are a shooting star?

Now I'm only twenty six
Feeling more like forty three
My hair lines disappearing
And I never get ID'ed
My clothes are out of fashion
No I'm not cool anymore
In the bed by ten o clock each night
And up at half past four
Still I go down
To that college town
When the Bulldogs play at home
I drink keg beer from a trash can
'Till the whole damn thing is gone
Then I look at all those college girls so innocent and young
I just check them out and say "Damn
I wish I was twenty one"

Hello, central... give me NO-MAN'S LAND
From a walking waste disposal unit
A transfusion from me'd kill the faint of heart

Alas POOR YORICK... I knew me well but I bin killin ma brain CELL BY CELL
It only takes a bullet to make the WOIM TOIN--an this one's for you...

...

Complainin bout ma campaign against personal decency
I got no excuses
Just rules wrapped in barbed wire, laced with busted glass
(Yeah, I'm the one who gave the sandwich to Mama Cass)

...

Chalk up another frozen pizza... choke up another thousand marlboros
Anything goes for them ordinary joes
They'll cut off your face to spite your nose
I don't need to touch their toes to know I've already reached my ALL TIME LOW
Pacin' ruts inna carpet
Eatin' up the wallpaper, crawlin' the walls, sick on the ceiling
DEAD IN THE HEAD
Shut the shutters... I shoulda stayed in bed

Their hearts pump pure, and then sweaty palms tellin' lies,
So blame it on a drug-addict, brother, and the cover-up.
One can't help become center of attention,
When everything is helpless, be realistic.
Ever since the goldfish died, daughter can't see past the make-up.
Stapling, "please become a savior to everything."
Photo album catalog, better order new hand holders,
Follow the odor to someone older and less experienced.
The whole choir is off key and forgets the words,
So act later and get a free subscription to a diary,
Not even worth reading.
There was a time like this when mother's tears turned lakes and grew tree gardens.
Now overgrown, with homemade graves,
But at least she can keep the whole family together.

~Sole's part in Testimony- Sage Francis.

A little out of the genres listed, but I can listed to that song 20 times in a row and get something different out of it each time.

No ideas original, there's nothing new under the sun.
Its never what you do but how it's done.
What you base your happiness around, material women and large paper.
That means your inferior not major.
