Rack it to a bottling bucket? Use it the same way they use stainless conical a, just a lot cheaper.
I think the trick will be to convert the opening at the bottom to be able to connect directly to the bottling cane. Pretty easy DIY!

Seems like a lot of extra air for a 5-5.5 gallon batch, especially once you remove the yeast ball and open it for secondary. I'm still interested though.
Air would get pushed by co2 during fermentation. The co2 should displace I believe.

Seems likely during primary, however I was more thinking if you pull the yeast ball and replace with a fresh one for a secondary.Air would get pushed by co2 during fermentation. The co2 should displace I believe.
